We spent the weekend moving the stove and refrigerator from place to place in order to decide whether we could better arrange the space in the kitchen-but alas the chimney remains in the way no matter what we do. Tim is laying out the plans for cabinetry on either side of the chimney to accomodate dishes, the microwave and some much needed pantry space. I can easily see why professional kitchen organizers stay in business...but I think we may just have a plan.

It's time to resurect the blog and turn it into what I wanted to in the first place-a place to record the renovations to the Sweet Baby Bungalow.
I'll have to catch up on changes we have made in 2009 but here is the latest.
The kitchen is finally under construction! As an avid baker-I am thrilled about this latest development-even though we are working on it more quickly in case I lose my job and we have to sell.
The soffit was unmovable-so here are the cabinets with faux cabinets above to show off the height of the room. It's a much stronger statement-and I love it.

The End-kind of...
Well, I have to say that despite my late start on this project, I am certainly glad that CML made me jump in and swim with the rest of the internet world. There are a few things I probably won't use-but many more that I have adopted into my work world already and I fell better thinking that I might understand what our customers are doing on their computers all day. I hope Joy and the gang will continue to let me know when there is a technology I should be aware of!

Podcasts
Well, I went in search of a podcast and was immediately overwhelmed!! Even when you search for a topic like library-you get 10 pages of possibilities. Its easy to see that simply searching for a podcast to listen to might turn you off before you even get started. If we had staff who were willing to podcast about CML-it seems like our biggest challenge would be getting to word out to the right listeners. I will start paying closer attention to the reviews and sources I read to seek out podacsts that seem useful and reliable.
In the meantime-in order to fulfill my last assignment here-I searched something I thought I could probably find-and of course HGTV does offer podcasts. So, I signed up to receive them on my Google reader and now, house junkie that I am, I am all set.

You Tube for fun...
So I went out on YouTube and found my son's favorite music video to add to my blog. Ok-so this isn't exactly library related-but we do get asked for music quite a bit-and frankly-I had no idea until today that music videos were available on YouTube-so I feel like I learned a lot
Tooling Around
I spent some time reading the Tooling Around blog on our webpage and found out some thing about Firefox that I hadn't realized. I had been treating it simply as a speedy workaround while we waited for our new computers. it didn't freeze up the wholesaler website we need to live on here in collection development. But now I am motivated to spend more time looking at what firefox can do. And I have a nifty Christmas theme too. I left a comment on the blog. Check it out.
Web 2.0 Award winners
Well I am already listening to Pandora-the online radio station that my dear sister sent to me and spread like wildfire through our office area...so I went in search of another 2.0 award winner to explore. I wound up on a site called Swivel-and I was immediately curious. Described by its creators as the Youtube of data, www.swivel.com is a place where all kids of graphs and other data can be shared and tagged for others to find. It seems to be in relatively early development-and I am not sure it would answer specific reference questions-due to the borad nature of the tags-but it sure was interesting to poke around in-and much more coloful that you would expect.
In fact-I found it in the list of visual arts winners...go figure.
